Setting up WireGuard on a Keenetic router consists of three stages: installing a WireGuard client, downloading and installing a .conf configuration file, customizing connection priorities.

Getting your configuration files

You may get the .conf configuration file from your BlancVPN account. Choose the locationOther protocolsWireGuard. Save the .conf file. After you have downloaded the first .conf file, the file on the website will be automatically replaced by the next one, which you may download on your other device (Blanc_LT_VNO1 → Blanc_LT_VNO2, and so on).

Setting up WireGuard client and server

To set up WireGuard, install a component of the WireGuard system:

  1. Open your router web interface. To do that, open 192.168.1.1 or my.keenetic.net in your browser.

  2. Type your router’s web interface login and password (you may find them on the back label at the bottom panel of the device).

  3. Go to Management System SettingsGeneral System Settings.

  4. Tap on Component options.

  5. Find the WireGuard VPN and install it. During the installation process, your internet connection may temporarily disappear.

Customizing connection priorities

Customizing VPN priorities for all connected devices

With this, the VPN will work on all the devices connected to the Wi-Fi.

  1. Go to Connection priorities.

  2. Move the VPN connection so that it is situated above the provider connection.

  3. Save changes.

  4. On the same page tap on +Add policy.

  5. Give it any name and press OK.

  6. Add your VPN connection to the created policy only and place it above the provider connection.

  7. Save changes.

  8. Go to Policy bindings.

  9. Add your devices, including the Home segment, to the policy you have created in Step 4.

  10. Now you can turn the VPN connection on or off on your router. To do that, toggle the switch on the Other connectionsVPN-connections page.

Customizing VPN priorities only for certain devices

If you want only certain devices to be connected to the VPN:

  1. Go to Connection priorities. For the Default policy leave the provider connection above the VPN connection.

  2. In the VPN connection policy (the one created in Step 4 previously), place VPN as a priority. If the provider connection is active, deactivate it.

  3. Check the Add new connections automatically checkbox.

  4. Go to Policy bindings. Leave all the devices in the access policy for the Default policy.

  5. Add devices you want to be connected to the VPN to the VPN connection policy.

Done! Your router is now connected to a fast and reliable VPN.

Setting up routing

By configuring static routes in Keenetic routers, you can set up services and websites in such a way that only selected resources will work with a VPN connection, while all other traffic bypasses it. Or you can exclude certain sites from using the VPN. See more details in our instructions.
