You can install a VPN on many devices, even on a gaming console. For this, you will need the Outline app and an access key.
Getting the Key
Log in to your account. Select a location → Outline, and copy the key.
Installing Outline
To install Outline, you’ll need to unlock Steam Deck and set a superuser password, which might make your device slightly less secure. For better safety, consider setting up VPN on your Wi-Fi router to cover all connected devices.
1. Press and hold the power button, then select "Switch to Desktop". To go back to gaming mode, click the shortcut on the desktop.

2. Go to "Start", select the "System" tab, and open "Konsole".
Enter the command
passwd
in the terminal, set a strong password, and confirm it.
4. Install the Flatpak by entering:
sudo steamos-readonly disable
5. Install ArchLinux by entering:
sudo pacman-key --init
sudo pacman-key --populate archlinux
sudo pacman -Syu
Remember that after each system update, you will need to enter these settings again.
6. Open a browser, go to the Outline website, select Linux as your operating system, and click “Download Outline Client”.
7. Allow to launch Outline by entering:
cd downloads
chmod u+x Outline-Client.AppImage

8. Launch Outline by entering:
./Outline-Client.AppImage
Later, you can start the app by double-clicking its icon.

9. Click "Add Server" in the center or the "+" icon in the top-right corner.
Paste your key.
Click "Connect" to enable the VPN or "Disconnect" to turn it off.
