BlancVPN is optimized for high speeds, so you shouldn’t normally notice a significant slowdown. If your connection feels slower than usual, try the steps below.
1. Compare your connection with and without VPN
Disconnect from BlancVPN and check your connection. Then reconnect to the VPN and compare the speed.
If your connection is slow in both cases, the issue may be with your internet connection rather than the VPN.
2. Update the BlancVPN app
Make sure you’re using the latest version of the BlancVPN app. Updates may include performance and connection improvements.
3. Try a different VPN location
Try a few different VPN locations and check your speed again. For the best performance, start with a location that’s geographically close to you.
4. Let BlancVPN choose the protocol
Go to Account → Settings → Preferred VPN protocol and select Choose automatically.
This lets BlancVPN choose the best protocol for your current connection.
5. Using a third-party VPN app?
Try a few different VPN locations. We recommend starting with a location geographically close to you.
For most connections, we recommend WireGuard.
6. Still slow?
If your connection is still noticeably slower with BlancVPN, contact our support team and tell us:
the device and operating system you’re using;
whether you’re connected via Wi-Fi or mobile data;
the VPN location you’re using;
your VPN protocol, if you know it;
your approximate internet speed with and without VPN.
